Put your roof’s sunshine to work for hot water
Use your roof to heat household water with sunlight. Aurora selects a NOBEL system for your demand and handles installation, commissioning and support. Start with a clear benefit: solar hot water, with storage and backup designed around your routine.
With Nobel systems, the model matters alongside capacity. Apollon, Aelios and Hyperion use different tank and collector configurations; Hyperion, for example, pairs an APOLLON collector with an AELIOS tank. Check the exact version offered, including domestic-water volume, exchanger, insulation and service provisions. Not every litre figure on a specification sheet measures the same thing.
When several bathrooms draw water close together, we consider stored volume and how it is replenished. For mostly evening use, insulation and draw size affect the heat available by morning. The backup heater supplies additional heat when required; its energy use depends on sunshine, demand and system settings.
Installation quality shows in insulated pipework, practical service access and support for the equipment’s filled weight. If the roof’s load-bearing capacity is uncertain, it needs structural assessment; an ordinary installation survey does not replace that assessment.
For hotels and facilities, we consider demand through the day and distances between the source and outlets. This may call for forced circulation or a different layout from a domestic unit. SOLFOS and central solar systems are options we review against the project design.

Common questions about solar water heaters
Does a solar water heater work in winter?
Yes. It uses the sunlight available in winter, with output varying by weather, shade and demand. A backup selected with the system supplies additional heat when needed. Available hot water depends on sizing, storage and controls; no system should be assumed to meet unlimited demand in every condition.
What capacity does my home need?
We review users, shower or bath demand, outlets used together and draw times. The Smart Advisor offers an initial estimate; the survey checks it against the model and site. Bathroom count alone is not enough.
What does my roof need to have?
Space for collectors clear of shade, support for the filled system weight, a pipe route and service access. We review the proposed location; uncertain roof or support capacity needs structural assessment before installation.
How much maintenance does it need?
Intervals and procedures depend on the model instructions and water conditions. Checks include connections, insulation, collectors, tank, circuit fluid and magnesium anodes where fitted. A service flange improves access but does not remove the need for maintenance.
What do a separate circuit and Double Jacket mean?
An indirect system circulates a separate fluid through the collector and transfers heat to domestic water through an exchanger. Double Jacket describes a surrounding exchanger arrangement. Separation does not make the domestic-water tank immune to scale or corrosion; maintenance still depends on the model and water conditions.
Can I just buy one online and have someone fit it?
Compare the full scope: equipment, site preparation, connections, commissioning, warranty and servicing. If buying the unit separately, establish who checks site compatibility, installs it and handles faults. Equipment price alone is not the installed-system cost.
